How We Got Our Name
Cut Plug Charters gets its name from a specific type of bait we utilize 99% of the time while fishing on our trips - "cut plug" herring. A cut plug bait is one that we hand cut to create a unique and enticing movement in the water. Taking a whole herring, we cut off the head behind the pectoral fins at a 45-degree angle with a 45-degree bevel to create a corkscrew spin that fish can't resist! This pure fishing technique is a fan favorite from the avid angler to the first timer. No sitting and waiting on our boats!
Captain/Owner Justin Wong
Captain Justin Wong has been mooching the Puget Sound since he can remember. Fishing the Puget Sound started off as a hobby and soon grew into a passion. The passion evolved from just catching fish to teaching people how to fish, and showing people the vast array of wildlife in the Puget Sound within minutes of Downtown Seattle. Captain Justin strives to create a memorable experience for each and everyone of his guests; whether you are an avid angler to a first timer, we can accommodate it all. Captain Justin looks to provide a true Seattle experience through mooching for salmon, which originated in the Puget Sound. Captain Justin Andrews has been fishing the Pacific Northwest for years with experience in the salt and freshwater areas of Washington. He has fished for just about every kind of fish Washington state offers. Captain Andrews enjoys getting people on the Puget Sound to experience a unique body of water chasing salmon and lingcod. Captain Thao Tran
Captain Thao Tran grew up in Seattle and fished the Puget Sound with his father for salmon and bottom fish. It's there that he developed a lifelong passion for fishing. He has traveled the world chasing roosterfish, Mahi Mahi, tarpon, steelhead, bonefish, and marlin to expand his curiosity about food, fish and culture. He believes that time spent on the water and fishing is not only therapeutic, but fun. Captain Thao enthusiastically shares his knowledge of fish and our northwest connection to it as a vital resource.
Captain Bryan Townley
Captain Bryan has fished coast to coast in the United States, chasing salmon and steelhead on the West Coast to snook, tarpon, and redfish on the East Coast. Captain Bryan grew up with a passion for the outdoors through fishing and hunting. One of his favorite parts is sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with the youth. He is a firm believer in educating and inspiring the youth to join the passion for the outdoors and create lifelong memories you can share with family and friends. He looks forward to getting you out on the water to enjoy what the Puget Sound has to offer.
Captain Rommel Santos
Captain Rommel Santos grew up fishing streams for salmon in Washington State, and soon the passion for fishing grew into a saltwater passion chasing salmon and lingcod. Captain Rommel has been with Cut Plug Charters for years, getting a start as a deckhand and now a Captain. Captain Rommel loves to show his guests the beauty of the Puget Sound through fishing.
